Athletics Overview
Bellarmine competes in NCAA Division I, meaning serious athletics with full scholarships and regional competition. The Knights joined the Atlantic Sun Conference and offer 18 varsity sports with $4.15 million in athletic scholarships available. About 20% of the student body participates in varsity athletics (468 athletes among 2,286 students). The school made a significant leap from Division II to Division I in recent years, transitioning into higher-level competition. Basketball traditionally draws the strongest following on campus. The Knights are still establishing themselves in Division I after decades of success at the Division II level. With a 13:1 student-faculty ratio, student-athletes receive solid academic support. The athletic program reflects the university's broader emphasis on personal development and community engagement within the Catholic tradition.
