Athletics Overview
Brewton-Parker competes in NAIA athletics, which represents mid-level college sports with athletic scholarships but smaller crowds than major Division I programs. The school fields 18 varsity sports and awards $3.2 million in athletic scholarships annually. With 324 total athletes out of 684 students, nearly half the campus (47%) participates in varsity athletics. This creates a sports-heavy culture where athletic participation defines much of campus life. The Barons traditionally compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, though the program has faced challenges in recent years. Men's sports dominate participation, reflecting the school's 68% male enrollment. For a small Baptist college in rural Georgia, athletics serves as both a recruiting tool and a central part of student identity, helping fill residence halls and generate campus energy.
