Capital University Athletics

Capital University competes in NCAA Division III, where sports focus on personal development rather than big crowds or athletic scholarships. With 453 athletes across 16 varsity sports, about 27% of the 1,709 students participate in athletics. The Crusaders play in the Ohio Athletic Conference, one of the most competitive D3 leagues in the Midwest. Capital has built a solid reputation in football and basketball within the OAC. The school offers zero dollars in athletic scholarships since D3 schools cannot provide athletic aid. Instead, student-athletes balance academics with competition for the love of their sport. The athletic program emphasizes the complete college experience rather than preparing players for professional careers. Most games draw modest but enthusiastic crowds from the campus community.
