East Central University Athletics

East Central competes in NCAA Division II, which sits between the scholarship-heavy Division I and the purely recreational Division III level. The Tigers offer athletic scholarships totaling $1.65 million across nine varsity sports. About 16% of the 2,157 students participate in varsity athletics. East Central plays in the Great American Conference alongside other regional universities. The Tigers have historically been competitive in basketball and baseball, sports that resonate well in small-town Oklahoma. Division II athletics at ECU provides a solid balance between academics and competition without the intense pressure of major college sports.
