Athletics Overview
The Reivers compete in the NJCAA, the top level of junior college athletics, where athletes can earn scholarships to continue their careers at four-year schools. Nearly 25% of Iowa Western's 3,029 students are varsity athletes across 22 sports programs. The college invests heavily in recruiting with $2.6 million in athletic scholarships distributed annually. Iowa Western has built a reputation as a basketball powerhouse, regularly sending players to Division I programs. The Reivers also field competitive teams in football, baseball, and softball. Their athletic success helps attract students from across the region, with 44% coming from out of state. The large athletic program creates a spirited campus culture unusual for a community college this size.
