Athletics Overview

Kennesaw State competes in NCAA Division I, which means big-time college sports with athletic scholarships and serious competition. The Owls play in Conference USA and offer 14 varsity sports with $6,859,650 in athletic scholarships available. With 458 total athletes out of 39,503 students, only about 1.2% of the student body plays varsity sports. The school is relatively new to Division I, having moved up from Division II in 2009, so it's still building its sports traditions. Football started in 2015 and plays at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The athletic program is growing but hasn't yet developed the deep rivalries or packed stadiums you'd find at older SEC schools. Basketball and soccer tend to be the most competitive programs as KSU works to establish itself in major college athletics.
