Athletics Overview
Kenyon competes in NCAA Division III, where athletics focus on personal development rather than scholarships or packed stadiums. With 491 total athletes out of 1,753 students, about 28% of the campus participates in varsity sports. The Lords and Ladies (though their teams are nicknamed the Owls) compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference across 22 varsity sports. Kenyon has built a legendary swimming dynasty, dominating Division III championships for decades and producing numerous Olympic swimmers. The swimming program consistently ranks among the best in the country at any division level. Their main rival is fellow Ohio liberal arts school Denison University. The athletic facilities support both competitive excellence and recreational participation, fitting the Division III philosophy of balancing academics with athletic achievement.
