Athletics Overview
Kuyper College competes at the NAIA level, which sits between major college sports and small Division III programs with limited athletic scholarships available. The Cougars field just three varsity sports with 35 total athletes. This means roughly 29% of the 119-student body participates in varsity athletics, creating an unusually high athlete-to-student ratio. The school offers no athletic scholarships despite its NAIA status, keeping the focus on academics and ministry preparation rather than recruiting. With such a small enrollment and limited sports offerings, athletic culture takes a backseat to the college's primary mission of Reformed theological education. The intimate campus size means student-athletes likely know most of their classmates personally, creating a tight-knit community where sports serve more as personal enrichment than major campus entertainment.
