Athletics Overview
Limestone competes in NCAA Division II, which offers athletic scholarships without the massive stadiums and TV coverage of Division I programs. With 735 athletes out of 1,528 total students, nearly half the campus participates in varsity sports. The Saints field teams in 20 different sports and distribute over $5.3 million in athletic scholarships annually. The university has built a reputation for competitive lacrosse programs and strong baseball teams that regularly contend for conference titles. As members of the South Atlantic Conference, Limestone faces regional rivals including Newberry College and USC Aiken. The athletic program serves as a major draw for prospective students, with sports participation rates far exceeding most colleges. Division II athletics create a tight-knit community where student-athletes balance serious competition with academic focus.
