Athletics Overview
Muskingum competes in NCAA Division III, where sports focus on personal development rather than big-money athletics with no athletic scholarships available. With 640 athletes across 25 varsity sports, nearly half the student body (45%) participates in intercollegiate athletics. The Fighting Muskies compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference, one of the oldest and most competitive D3 leagues in the country. Football traditionally draws strong community support in this rural Ohio town. The school's athletic facilities serve both varsity teams and recreational users on the compact campus. Division III emphasizes the student-athlete experience, allowing players to compete seriously while pursuing demanding academic programs. With 1,014 on-campus housing spots, most student-athletes live in residence halls and form tight bonds with teammates throughout their four years.
