Rider University Athletics

Rider competes in NCAA Division I, meaning serious athletic competition with full scholarships and regional television coverage. The Broncs field 17 varsity teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. With 449 total athletes out of 3,192 students, about 14% of the campus participates in varsity sports. The athletic department awards over $6 million in scholarships annually. Basketball games against MAAC rivals like Iona and Manhattan draw decent crowds to Alumni Gym. The men's basketball team has made several NCAA tournament appearances, including a memorable 2007 run that put the school on the national map. Wrestling also claims a strong tradition with multiple conference championships. While not a sports powerhouse, Rider offers the full Division I experience with competitive teams and school spirit centered around the Broncs.
