Southwestern Christian University Athletics

Southwestern Christian competes in the NAIA, which sits between Division I powerhouses and Division III personal enrichment programs. The Eagles field 11 varsity sports with 199 total athletes, meaning 57% of the 351 students participate in athletics. The school awards $1.5 million in athletic scholarships annually, making sports a significant recruiting tool for this small Pentecostal institution. With more than half the student body involved in athletics, games become major campus events where everyone knows the players personally. The Eagles compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference against other small Christian colleges across Oklahoma and surrounding states. Basketball traditionally draws the strongest following, with the intimate gym creating an intense home court advantage that visiting teams struggle to handle.
