Athletics Overview
The Eagles compete in NAIA athletics, which sits between major college sports and recreational-level competition. NAIA schools offer athletic scholarships but with smaller budgets and less fanfare than Division I programs. With 260 total athletes out of 1,748 students, roughly 15% of the campus participates in varsity sports. The athletic department distributed $737,135 in scholarships across 11 sports programs. Texas A&M-Texarkana competes in the Red River Athletic Conference against other regional universities. The relatively high percentage of student-athletes creates a tight-knit athletic community where games draw solid campus support. As a newer institution in the Texas A&M system, the Eagles are still building their athletic traditions and rivalries within their conference.
