Athletics Overview
University of Providence competes in NAIA, which offers a middle ground between major college sports and recreational athletics with modest scholarships and regional competition. The school fields 13 varsity teams with 334 total athletes. That means 63% of the 527-student body participates in varsity athletics, creating an intensely sports-focused campus culture. The Argonauts compete in the Conference of New England despite being located in Montana. Athletic scholarships total $6.3 million across all programs. The high participation rate reflects the school's small size and commitment to providing athletic opportunities. With nearly two-thirds of students on teams, game days bring together much of the campus community. The intimate 7:1 student-faculty ratio extends to athletics, where coaches can develop close mentoring relationships with student-athletes.
