Admission Guide

University of West Georgia accepts applications through the University System of Georgia's online portal, with priority deadlines of May 1 for fall and November 1 for spring admission. You'll need to submit your high school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and complete the application with your personal essay.

The nursing program requires separate application materials and maintains much higher admission standards than the university overall. You must apply directly to the School of Nursing after completing prerequisite courses, typically during your sophomore year. Computer science and business programs also have additional requirements beyond general admission.

Housing applications open in February for the following fall semester, and you should apply early since campus housing fills quickly. The university requires freshmen under 21 to live on campus unless they live with family within 30 miles of Carrollton.

New student orientation occurs throughout the summer in two-day sessions where you'll register for classes and complete placement testing. You can choose your orientation date after submitting your enrollment deposit.

The campus sits about an hour west of Atlanta, so you'll have access to internships and job opportunities in the metro area while paying significantly lower tuition than schools closer to the city. Most students commute or live locally, creating a different campus culture than traditional residential universities.

Financial aid applications require the FAFSA, and Georgia residents should complete the HOPE scholarship application since most students qualify for at least partial tuition coverage through state programs.
