Athletics Overview
Wisconsin-Parkside competes in NCAA Division II, which offers athletic scholarships but with less fanfare than major college sports. The Rangers field 12 varsity teams and award $1.48 million in athletic scholarships annually. With 289 total athletes out of 2,951 students, about 10% of the campus participates in varsity sports. The university competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference alongside other Midwest schools. Division II strikes a balance between competitive athletics and academics, attracting student-athletes who want meaningful competition without the overwhelming time commitments of Division I programs. The Rangers have traditionally been competitive in basketball and soccer within their conference. The athletic program helps build campus community in a university where most students commute from the greater Milwaukee-Chicago corridor.
